Lafayette County is currently four years into a five year GIS project. GIS is an acronym for Geographic Information System. GIS is “intelligent mapping”. Maps that have data coordinated with features of the map, for example, a 911 address. The 911 address is only one of the many functions of GIS. Beyond 911 address information will be the date the address was assigned, who requested the address, the subdivision name, the lot and parcel number associated with the address and any other pertinent information that is available. This data is important to the County in maintaining our addressing system. In the future, as GIS progresses, information will be updated on this web page; information such as which offices will be affected, how it will benefit County office holders and their respective offices and how it can be utilized by the citizens of Lafayette County.

Lafayette County is receiving numerous requests for our GIS data. We are currently working on a Data Sharing agreement for Lafayette County. This data sharing agreement must be in place before we can move forward in distributing our data in accordance with the Missouri Sunshine law. Keep checking  this web site for more information as developments take place. Once the agreements are completed and signed by the County Commission we will update this web site with those developments.
