Lafayette County Missouri is currently in the second year of a five year GIS project. GIS is an acronym for Geographic Information System. GIS is "intelligent mapping". Maps that has data coordinated with features of the map. For example an 911 address. An 911 address is one of many features that will have data associated with it. Behind the address data that will exist, such as the date that address was assigned, who requested it, the subdivision, lot # & parcel number associated and so on. This data is important to the county in maintaining our addressing system. But this is only one example. In the future as this GIS project progresses, this web page will continue to explain our progress of the project. Which offices the progress effects, and how this will be of benefit to the County Office holders and their respective offices and to the Lafayette County citizens.
If you want more information about the G.I.S. system, please contact the GIS director at the information provided at the top of this page.
