G.I.S. Project progress

Update 01/12/08
THe Orthophotography or (Aerial Photography as it is sometimes called) part of the project has been completed. The Sidwell Company (The County's GIS contractor) delivered this part of the project ahead of schedule. Currently the County's GIS director is checking this new photography for acuracy and adding location data which will be defined in a database. Once this process is completed it will be used in future phases of the project.

Update 01/16/08
Currently Lafayette County is working on user agreements for Odessa and Higginsville. These two cities expresses interest and committed financial support in the counties GIS project from the beginning. Once these agreements are signed it will create a working relationship with these two cities in obtaining the Counties GIS data as it is developed in a process from the Lafayette County Recorders Office directed by Patsy Olvera and Assessors office directed by Mike Dobson. Our hope is that this will assist in future decisions these cities may encounter in directing future development.
Lafayette County welcome's other Lafayette County Cities to get involved with our GIS project. GIS data can be made available to them as well. We look forward to those opportunities.

The GIS Director is also developing specifications for a mapping network for the Court House, Sheriff's Office, Lafayette Hall and the Dryer Annex. As GIS data is developed it will be served on this managed network to all of the county offices that exist in these four County buildings. This data will be available to these county offices in their day to day operations and assist these Office Holders in serving the residents of Lafayette County.  This network installation will go through the bidding process and is hoped to be installed by the third quarter ot FY 2008, and will be fully tested and ready to go by the end of the year. Check back as future content will be added on the GIS solutions part of this web site.
