It has been said that people should “enjoy the simple life.”  After a short tour of our beautiful, historic county…after spending just a few moments with some of our citizens…after finding out for yourself the little things that make Lafayette County such a wonderful place, you will definitely agree with us.
More importantly, Lafayette County will agree with you.  What makes our county in west-central Missouri…in the center of the United States so special?  We can answer that question with just one statement ~ Quality of Life ~
We believe that quality of life is important to our residents, so we have invested in our county to ensure that our children receive quality education.  Lafayette County is home to six public school districts offering PreK-12 education.   We have an exceptional college preparatory parochial Lutheran school located in Concordia.  The county also hosts Lex-La-Ray Vocational Technical Center in Lexington.
Lafayette County is within 40 miles of four colleges and universities—University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg, Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Metropolitan Community College in Blue Springs, and State Fair Community College--one of the best in mid-America that houses the internationally renowned Daum Museum of Contemporary Art.  Approximately an hour trip down Interstate 70 allows county residents to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia and root on the Tiger athletic programs.
We support quality medical facilities.  From multiple community medical clinics to assisted-living facilities to the Lafayette Regional Health Center ~ our health care facilities rival those in the larger cities of our state.  Besides Lafayette Regional, many residents in the various parts of Lafayette County are located only about 25 miles from hospitals and emergency room facilities in Marshall, Warrensburg, Blue Springs, Richmond, and Sedalia.
We know that our citizens and visitors want quality recreational facilities.  You will find excellent golf courses, beautifully landscaped city parks, hiking and biking trails, well-maintained community ball fields, swimming, bowling, fishing, boating…the list is almost endless. The Missouri State Fair in Sedalia is within 40 minutes from Lafayette County.   The Kansas City Chiefs NFL Football Team, the Kansas City Royals MLB Baseball Team are only 50 miles down Interstate-70.  The county is approximately an hour from Truman Lake and the Lake of the Ozarks, placing residents in close proximity to a myriad of great recreational opportunities while still retaining the rural quality of life at the same time.
You will find quality homes and diversified employment opportunities.  In Lafayette County, people work hard, play often, and live a quality life to the fullest extent possible.  We invite you to share the “simple life” experience with us and enjoy the agricultural heritage of our county.  If you are here for a short visit or a long stay, we welcome you to Lafayette County, Missouri – where the simple life begins.
