GENERAL INFORMATION
The Recorder of Deeds office is governed by the state statutes of Missouri, and records, maintains and preserves the real estate land records for Lafayette County. The Recorder's office is responsible for recording many types of documents including:
  • Real Estate Deeds
  • Subdivision Plats
  • Surveys
  • Power of Attorney
  • Tax Liens
  • Universal Commercial Code Documents (Real Estate only)
  • Military Discharges
  • Marriage Licenses
  • Miscellaneous Documents

Effective August 23, 2023, the Lafayette County Recorder’s Office will no longer accept personal checks.

Acceptable means of payment include: Cash, Money Orders, Cashier’s Checks, Credit Card, and Debit Card



Records that we are not responsible for include:
  • Birth Records
  • Death Records

(information can be obtained through the Health Department or Bureau of Vital Records)


ONLINE RECORDING
The Recorder’s Office is now accepting electronic recording through the following:
  • Simplifile
  • CSC
  • EPN
  • Indecomm
  • ICounty Technologies
 
  • Suggestions for less rejections with e-recording
  • Blue or Black ink for signatures without the use of fine point pens 
  • Document needs to be legible and reproduceable on every page which includes how dark or light it appears
  • All information on the Notary stamp must be clear to read
